PITTSBURGH - Adam Webber and Eric Limkemann, both 2004 graduates and former standouts for the Pitt swimming and diving teams, recently competed in the 2005 Pittsburgh Triathlon. Webber won the overall competition and Limkemann had a strong third place showing. The top finishes allowed the duo to qualify for the USA Triathlon National Championships.
This past weekend, Limkemann and Webber traveled to Kansas City to compete in the National Championships, but found the event cancelled due to severe thunderstorms. The two swimmers have each won numerous regional triathlons and were expected to compete for a top 10 finish in the 1200-person event. Because of their previous performances, they also qualified for the World Age Group Triathlon Championships to be held in Honolulu.
While at Pitt, Webber was a multiple All-Big East team member in the freestyle. He was a member of several school and Big East record relay teams as well and is currently employed as a constable. Limkemann was the recipient of the Blue-Gold award and is the holder of three school records. In addition, he is one of only a few Big East athletes to have won an event at the conference championships for four consecutive years. Limkemann won the 1650 freestyle in each of his four seasons at Pitt. He currently serves as an assistant coach with the swimming and diving teams while attending graduate school. Both men turned to triathlon competition after their swimming careers had ended and now race for Trizilla, a local triathlon equipment store.
