Coach Alonzo Webb and Maureen McCandless were awarded Mid-Atlantic Regional Women's Coach and Athlete of the Year.

PITTSBURGH ? The United States Track Coaches Association announced Tuesday, March 8, the Indoor Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for NCAA Division I track and field. Pittsburgh senior Maureen McCandless was awarded Mid-Atlantic Regional Women?s Athlete of the Year. Also receiving honors for the University of Pittsburgh was Alonzo Webb, Women?s Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year.

The University of Pittsburgh?s Indoor track and field teams will be represented by four athletes this weekend, March 12-13, at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Arkansas.

Three athletes from the women?s team qualified to compete. Ranking 10^th nationally, McCandless will compete in the 3,000 meters and in the mile run. Senior Amanda Walker will enter the shot put competition ranking 7^th and in the weight throw event ranking 9^th. Senior Tamara McGill met qualifying marks in the pentathlon and was given the 10^th seed. McGill will also compete in the high jump competition.

For the men, sophomore Justin Clickett qualified for the shot put competition, ranking 9^th nationally.
