PITTSBURGH ? The Pittsburgh men's swimming & diving team is in familiar territory in the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual meet rankings, beginning the 2004-05 season in the 17th spot.
The Panthers earned a total of 57 points to tie Arizona State for 17th in the national polls, continuing their long streak of national prominence.
Pittsburgh is the only Big East school in the top 25 but Notre Dame is among five other schools receiving votes with six points. Auburn earned the No. 1 ranking with all seven first-place votes and a total of 175 points.
The Panthers' dual meet opponents this season that appear in the CSCAA rankings are Virginia (12th, 97 points), Northwestern (15th, 82 points), the Fighting Irish, Virginia Tech (orv, five points) and Princeton (orv, 1 point).
Pittsburgh's women's swimming and diving team will take on 14th-ranked Maryland, 20th-ranked Virginia, 23rd-ranked Notre Dame, 24th-ranked Virginia Tech and two other schools receiving votes (Princeton and Missouri) during the 2004-05 season.
