PITTSBURGH ? After placing sixth at the NCAA Northeast Regional on April 12, the Pittsburgh gymnastics team got good news just days after with a 26th-place finish nationally among the 36 teams that competed in the Regionals.
Pittsburgh had 194.5 points, which placed them above East Atlantic Gymnastics League members Maryland (28th) and North Carolina State (30th), as well as Kent State (27th) and Ohio State (29th), both of which topped the Panthers in the regular season.
It is the highest finish for the Panthers among the teams that have qualified for the NCAA Regionals, a fact not lost on Head Coach Debbie Yohman.
"I am very proud of the way we competed throughout the season," Yohman said. "To finish as high as we did is a credit to each one of our gymnasts for their hard work and dedication to this team. We continue to raise the bar for the future of Pittsburgh gymnastics."
