Cross Country Teams Compete in Duquesne Invitational

Sophomore Maureen McCandless (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) took home top honors in the women?s field, finishing first with a time of 18:01. Junior Rachel Rothe (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) was the next Panther to cross the finish line, racing to a sixth-place finish in 18:53.
Junior Dawn Hilgert (Columbia, Pa./Lancaster), who finished 10th in 19:34, freshman Kelly O?Connell (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), who placed 16th with a time of 19:40, and freshman Nicole Angstadt (Kutztown, Pa./Fleetwood), placing 21st, rounded out the top five for the women?s squad.
For the second straight meet this season, Dan Hull (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led the way for the men?s team with a fifth-place finish in 27:00. Jeryl Wilborn (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) finished 13th with a time of 27:29, while Nick Westerman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) came in 16th place in 27:36. Mike Diano (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) also added a 22nd-place finish for Pittsburgh, crossing the finish line in 28:07.
Pittsburgh returns to action this Friday as they travel to Notre Dame, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational.
