University Accepts $1 Million Gift From James Duratz
4/6/2001
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh has received a $1 million gift from James J. Duratz to furnish the Panthers' locker room in the new North Shore football stadium.
This is the latest in a long line of generous gifts from the Duratz and Barco families. Previous gifts included a lead donation for the Duratz Athletic Complex and numerous endowed athletic scholarships.
The Duratz Locker Room in the North Shore Stadium will be a private and expansive facility that will be solely used by the Panthers.
"Jim Duratz and his late wife Helene have been generous to the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department beyond belief," said Athletic Director Steve Pederson. "They have been there in good times and bad and have always asked what they could do to help us succeed. We are grateful for their participation in making the new stadium the finest facility in the country."
