PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ricardo Greer had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Pittsburgh beat Rutgers 70-60 in a Big East game Saturday night.
Pittsburgh (14-11, 6-8 Big East) has assured itself of a berth in the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden, which begins on March 7.
Isaac Hawkins scored 18 points for the Panthers, his biggest output since he scored 21 against Virginia Commonwealth on Dec. 17. He missed Pitt's previous game with a foot injury.
The Scarlet Knights (11-14, 3-11) have lost 11 of their last 14 games.
Rutgers went on a 13-0 run early in the first half and took a 19-8 lead seven minutes into the game. Pitt responded with 10 consecutive points en route to a 32-28 lead at halftime.
Greer had six points in a 23-10 stretch early in the second half that allowed the Panthers to break open a close game. Greer played his final regular season game against his brother Jeff, who scored 11 points for Rutgers.
Todd Billet had 13 points in the first half for the Scarlet Knights, making three of four 3-point shots.
Billet got into foul trouble in the second half and Rutgers forward Rashod Kent also picked up his third personal foul early in the second half.
