Men's Basketball Upends Oakland, 70-53

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) - Donatas Zavackas had 21 points to lead Pittsburgh to a 70-53 win over Oakland in the first round of the University Hoops Classic on Friday.
Brandon Knight added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, while Toree Morris added 13 and Jaron Brown had 10 for the Panthers (4-0).
After Oakland (1-2) tied the game twice in the second half, Knight made a 3-pointer to start a 17-7 run that sealed the game.
Pitt struggled in the first half, making nine of 24 (38 percent) shots from the field and turning the ball over 12 times in the half.
But the Panthers went into the half with 26-24 lead and never trailed as they made 15 of 29 shots (52 percent) in the second half.
Oakland made 10 of 21 shots (48 percent) in the the first half, but only made 11 shots throughout the second half to finish the game 21 for 53 (40 percent).
Mike Helms led Oakland with 14 points, while Dan Champagne added 13 points.
