PITTSBURGH (AP) - Brandin Knight and Julius Page each scored 16 points as Pittsburgh beat Morgan State 76-55 Friday.
Knight also had eight assists, while Jaron Brown added 14 points for the Panthers (1-0).
Pitt took a lead midway through the first half, going on a 19-6 run in the last 9:12 to break a 19-point tie.
The Panthers led 38-25 at halftime and kept at least a 10-point lead throughout the second half.
Pitt outrebounded Morgan State 42-29 and the Bears (0-1) shot 36 percent and made only three of 17 3-pointers.
Curtis King scored 13 points for the Bears (0-1) and Brandon Reece added 12.
The Panthers were without junior forward Donatas Zavackas.
Zavackas was suspended for two games by the NCAA before Friday's game for playing 10 games on a professional-level team in his native Lithuania in 1996-97.
He will also miss Sunday's game against Northern Arizona but will be eligible to return for Tuesday's game against Robert Morris.
