PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh Head Basketball Coach Ralph Willard announced 6-0, 175-pound guard Brandin Knight (East Orange, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Pittsburgh next season.
"I am tremendously excited to have Brandin join our basketball family here at the University of Pittsburgh," Willard said.
Knight led Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.) to consecutive New Jersey Parochial A State Championships and a record of 56-5 over two seasons. He averaged eight points, seven assists and four steals as a junior earning first team All-Iron Hills Conference and All-Essex County. Also a standout defensive back on the football team, he is the younger brother of former Stanford Cardinal standout and current Cleveland Cavaliers guard Brevin Knight and son of a Essex County Junior College coach, Mel. Knight averaged 2.5 steals per game in the Metro Classic this past summer, leading his team to the championship.
"Brandin is an outstanding student-athlete who brings great leadership qualities," Willard said. "He is a well-coached player and comes from a great basketball family. Brandin's tenacious defense and his ability to defend on and off the ball will be a good fit to our pressure style of play. He is a player who makes everyone else on the floor better."
Knight is being coached by Bob Farrell at Seton Hall Prep.
