Strength and Conditioning: Internships
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The strength and conditioning internship program is an opportunity that provides students and young professionals with valuable knowledge of strength and conditioning principles and practical experience working with Division I student-athletes. This program offers a hands-on opportunity along with educational professional development sessions on a daily/weekly basis. It is our goal to provide students and young professionals with the best experience possible and aim to help develop upcoming strength and conditioning professionals.
University of Pittsburgh Athletics provides an on-going review of applications for semester internships. Daily responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and fields for conditioning workouts
- Daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and all of its equipment
- Assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions
Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic. Successful applicants should be working towards earning their Bachelor's degree and a certification from the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW. Interns must be CPR/AED certified.
This is an unpaid position, however, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit (if applicable). This is a NSCA sponsored internship. Upon completion, 2.0 CEUs may be awarded.
