AS A SOPHOMORE (2008)
Competed primarily on the bars and beam after returning from an injury which sidelined her during first season with Pitt...Picked up a season-high mark of 9.725 on the bars at Michigan State, tying for fifth place...Notched a season-high mark of 9.775 on the balance beam on three occasions, at Michigan State, at George Washington and against West Virginia, taking third place in two of three meets...First team All-EAGL selection on beam...Earned team award for Most Improved Gymnast...EAGL All-Academic...Selected second-team All-EAGL Tournament Team for bars and beam.
AS A FRESHMAN (2007)
Sarah Thompson did not compete in 2007 due to an injury.
HIGH SCHOOL
Thompson competed in the 2005 Junior National Championships...three-year competitor at Level 10, qualifying for regional and national championships...placed third on the uneven bars, fourth on the balance beam and third in the all-around at the 2005 regional championships...runner-up on the balance beam at the 2002 Level 9 state championships and ninth on the balance beam at the regional championships...was the section 9 high school champion on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and all-around her junior year and placed third on the uneven bars at states...set high school and section records in every event and the all-around...named section 9 MVP in 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2001...trained at Excel Gymnastics in New York under coach Alison Tosi...also competed in track and field and was a two-time section champion in hurdles as well as a state qualifier...a member of the National Honor Society and honor roll...received the Onteora Sports Fan Association Award and the Teacher's Association Award.
