
Augustine Wins ELITE 90 Award for NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Redshirt-junior Luca Augustine is the recipient of the NCAA ELITE 90 award for the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. He was presented the award during the awards ceremony Saturday night at Wells Fargo Center prior to the start of the Championship matches.
Augustine is the first student-athlete from Pitt to earn the ELITE 90 award and the first wrestler from the Atlantic Coast Conference to win the award.
Augustine is an academic senior with a 3.94 cumulative GPA in biology. The Waynesburg, Pa., native earned the No. 15 seed in the national tournament after recording a 17-7 record and finishing as the runner-up at 174-pounds at the ACC Championships. Augustine finished the national tournament with a 3-2 record and was just one win short of becoming an All-American.
The Elite 90 award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. This prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite 90 is proudly awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
