PHILADELPHIA – Mac Stout earned All-American honors during the second day of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships at Wells Fargo Center, Friday evening. Stout defeated Wyatt Voelker from Northern Iowa, 4-2, to become the 85th All-American in program history.
Stout dropped to Stephen Little of Little Rock in sudden victory in round five of the consolation bracket and finished seventh overall with a 12-3 major decision over Camden McDanel of Nebraska on Saturday.
The Panthers had three of five wrestlers advance to the blood round on Friday night, as Luca Augustine (174), Stout (197), and Dayton Pitzer (285) all wrestled for a chance at All-American honors. Augustine bounced back after dropping his first match in the opening round on Thursday and won three straight matches to advance to the blood round.
Augustine just missed All-American status in a battle with Patrick Kennedy from Iowa at 174-pounds. Augustine took a 3-1 early lead after the first period and went up 5-2 with a reversal, and a Kennedy escape. Kennedy started the third period with an escape and tied the match at 6-6 before being awarded a point for advantage time to take the match 7-6.
Pitzer dropped to Ben Keuter from Iowa in a 5-1 decision in the blood round. Pitzer and Keuter were scoreless through the first period before Keuter used an escape and a takedown to take a 4-0 lead. Keuter was awarded another point for riding time to take the match 5-1.
Stout dropped a tight match to the No. 3 seed AJ Ferrari from Cal State Bakersfield, 2-0, in the quarterfinals and drop to the consolation bracket. The match was scoreless through the first period until Ferrari got on the board with an escape in the second period. The third period was scoreless, but Ferrari got another point for advantage time to take the 2-0 victory.
Augustine and Pitzer each won their first consolation match of the day to stay alive in the tournament. Augustine opened with a 4-3 decision against ACC foe Lorenzo Norman and won 4-1 in sudden victory over Dalton Harkins of Army. Pitzer was dominant in his first match of the day, defeating Luke Rasmussen of South Dakota State by a 9-0 major decision and recorded over five minutes of riding time. Pitzer went up 10-0 against Trevor Tinker before ending the match with a pin in 3:51 to close out the morning session and wrestle for a chance for All-American status.
