Pitt Set To Face No. 12 SDSU, Duke This Weekend

Panthers Host Jackrabbits Friday Before Traveling to Duke Sunday
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team is set to host No. 12 South Dakota State in non-conference action Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Field House before heading to Durham, N.C. to face ACC rival Duke Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Panthers (2-9, 0-3 ACC) will host the Jackrabbits (11-2, 6-0 Big 12) before hitting the road to face the Blue Devils (5-5, 1-2 ACC).

LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt fell to No. 6 NC State Friday, Feb. 2 in its third ACC dual of the season, dropping a 23-9 decision to the Wolfpack in the Fitzgerald Field House.
- Junior LJ Bentley (125), senior Dom Forys (133) and redshirt junior Zach Bruce (197) were Pitt's lone wins in the dual.
THE SERIES VS. SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
- Pitt and South Dakota State will square off in a dual for the first time in program history.
- Though the Panthers have never met SDSU in a dual, two Panthers have faced current Jackrabbit wrestlers in tournament play.
- Redshirt senior Ryan Solomon won in a 3-2 decision over Nate Rotert Nov. 23, 2014 at the Keystone Classic.
- Redshirt senior Nick Zanetta earned a 4-1 decision over Isaac Andrade Dec. 29, 2016 at the Midlands Championships.
SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS
- The Jackrabbits have faced five ranked opponents during the course of the season, going 3-2 in those matches. They have defeated No. 11 Northern Iowa, No. 18 Central Michigan and No. 22 Wyoming, while falling to No. 6 Minnesota and No. 12 Arizona State.
- Individually, SDSU has five ranked wrestlers. They are led by No. 1 Seth Gross (133), followed by No. 11 Nate Rotert (197), No. 14 David Kocer (174), No. 16 Luke Zilverberg (157) and No. 20 Connor Brown (125).
- Gross has compiled a 78-17 overall record through three seasons at SDSU. He compiled a 34-2 record last year en route to a national runner-up finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
THE SERIES VS. DUKE
- Pitt leads the all-time series against Duke, 4-0.
- The Panthers started their ACC rivalry against the Blue Devils with a 29-7 victory on Jan. 12, 2014.
- Pitt has won its four meetings against Duke by an average margin of 12.5 points.
- Bentley is 3-0 all-time against Duke, defeating current Blue Devil Thayer Atkins in all three matchups.
- Forys is 4-0 against the Blue Devils, defeating Thayer Atkins (twice) and Brandon Leynaud.
- Zanetta is 3-3 against Duke. He is 1-3 against Zach Finesilver and 1-0 against brother Mitch Finesilver.

- The Finesilver family makes up 40% of Duke's probable starters. Freshman twins Josh Finesilver (18-12) and Matt Finesilver (20-6) sit at 133 pounds and 174 pounds, respectively. Their older brothers, redshirt junior twins Mitch Finesilver (22-3) and Zach Finesilver (12-11), hold the 157 and 165-pound spots.
