Lund Named ACC Freshman of the Week

Pasadena, Calif., Native has Standout Weekend for Panthers
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh volleyball player Kayla Lund was named ACC Freshman of the Week for her efforts during last weekend's Panther Challenge.
Lund was a key contributor in a 3-0 weekend that saw Pitt sweep UC Santa Barbara, Eastern Kentucky and Cleveland State at the Fitzgerald Field House.
The Pasadena, Calif., native tallied 26 kills on the weekend, while hitting at a .340 clip. She posted 3.25 kills per set and 2.62 digs per set. The freshman also led the team with five aces and was third on the team with 21 digs.
Lund opened the weekend with a nice offensive performance, hitting .500 against UCSB. She tallied five kills in 10 attempts.
Against Eastern Kentucky, Lund showed off her defensive skills, collecting a team-leading and season-high 13 digs, in addition to two blocks.
She concluded the weekend with a 12-kill effort against Cleveland State. She posted a .409 hitting percentage, had three aces, eight digs and two blocks.
Pitt is back in action this weekend as the squad opens ACC play against Syracuse, Friday, Sept. 22. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Field House.
