Helton, Heinrich Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH- Softball's Gracie Helton and track and field's Graham Heinrich have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following standout performances last week.
Helton hit a walk-off grand slam to help Pitt open its weekend series against Cal with a 14-6 run-rule victory in six innings. Helton finished 2-for-3 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored. Pitt scored in all six innings and totaled five home runs in the win. Pitt continued to apply pressure in the sixth, loading the bases with back-to-back singles and a walk to set the stage for Helton's walk-off grand slam to center field.
Heinrich posted a new personal best time of 8:52.61 in the 3000 steeplechase at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend. That time was good for sixth in program history and earned automatic qualifying status for the ACC Championship. That time was Pitt's fastest of the year in the steeplechase.
